Why Is A Migraine Such a Big Deal?

There is the expression:  "That gave me a migraine!"  In reality, the word is overused and many people don't know what a migraine is exactly.  Migraines are very painful, severe headaches, but they are not the type of headache people get more commonly.  These headaches have horrible effects on the entire body, and come with many other symptoms.  They can last for days, sometimes even weeks, and render the person experienced them utterly disabled until it is gone.  They are widely misdiagnosed or under diagnosed, and therefore people who suffer from them don't get adequate treatment right away, if at all.  We have a society that encourages people to "suck it up" and so we often do.  However, the advancements made in the field of migraine knowledge and treatment mean that migraine suffers have a bit of light at the end of the tunnel.

A migraine can come with or without warning, but some sufferers experience what is called an aura.  An aura can be a variety of things from spots of light or flashing lights in their vision, seeing spots, or having their face and/or hands tingle with some numbness.  Although the pain of a migraine can be very bad, often debilitating, it is not the only system of a migraine.  The body also experiences nausea, dizziness, and even blind spots or darkness (dimming) of the vision.

Two common experiences of migraine sufferers are phonophobia (hyper-sensitivity to sound), and photophobia (hyper-sensitivity to light).  This goes beyond just being bothered by light and sound, but the person with the migraine can actually have additional pain as a result of going outside during the day, or even with bright lights in the house, as well as loud noises causing additional pain.  Nausea can be intensified with these two things, and certainly gets worse any time the pain increases.

Having said that migraines are not regular headaches, it is clear that regular headache medicine is not enough to treat them.  Fioricet is a medication, available online, that can eliminate the pain – and other symptoms – experienced by migraine sufferers.  Migraines can be tough, but Fioricet can reduce or wipe out this brutal pain that keeps someone from living their life to the fullest.  Migraine medicine needs to treat all the symptoms, not just pain. Over the counter remedies rarely work for migraines and can cause other problems.  Next time someone you care about says they have a migraine, remember these facts and suggest Fioricet – quietly, of course.

Once you start seeing big black spots, you have about 30 seconds before you pass out on the ground. I'm lucky I didn't crack my head open.

A normal dose shold be fine, just follow the dirrections on the package. Ibuprofen is a very common medicine, doctors/ pharmacists assume people take it sometime.

If you were specifically NOT supposed to take it, they would have mentioned. For example, (being a girl) every time I am prescribed antibiotics, they ALWAYS tell me it can interfer with birthcontrol pills, even if I'm not on them. Also certain antidepressants can't be mixed with ANYTHING, but they drowned you in the literature so their is no question.

If the headache gets worse, or doesn't get better in a couple days, call you doc.
