By learning to cope with cravings you can stay firmly on track for weight control. Hunger is only one of the reasons why we eat — stress, boredom, a social occasion, loneliness, the smell of food or pure habit are all triggers. Triggers become so automatic that sometimes it really does seem that you can't control what you eat. Cravings are a perfectly normal response to life and its demands and the good news is that you can control them. How we think affects how we respond to cravings. For example, on a bad morning you may crave a hamburger for lunch, but you still have time to decide whether to give in to the craving or not.
